NORTH DARTMOUTH — The Bishop Stang golf team had a season to remember last fall.
Now, the Spartans are out to duplicate that success in 2023. Stang opened its season last Thursday with a victory over a tough Duxbury team, a 195-185 outcome in the Stableford scoring system format at the Country Club of New Bedford.
Seniors Matt Costello and Michael Zeller led the way with 34 and 32 points, respectively, for the Spartans (1-0) on the par-36 course. Senior Jack Shea — playing in his first match for Stang — contributed 23 points.
The Spartans are scheduled to compete at the 7th Annual Cape Cod National Golf Club High School Invitational later in the month on Sunday, September 24, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
