Word stemming from the media late on Thursday evening suggests that Manchester United have made first contact with a key managerial target ahead of the summer.

The tactician now being actively pursued by the Red Devils? Erik ten Hag.

The info comes courtesy of the reliable Jonathan Shrager, who confirms that Ajax’s boss ‘has been contacted’, presumably to gauge his interest in the prospect of an Old Trafford switch.

Interestingly, news of those in a position of power on the red half of Manchester making a play for ten Hag comes fresh on the back of speculation just 24 hours ago that yet another tactician had been added to the list of candidates to take over from Ralf Rangnick ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
