NASCAR Cup Series at Talladega: Live updates, highlights, results for the GEICO 500

Half a century ago, NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. sought to surpass his original creation of Daytona by building a speedway faster, larger, and even more daunting a challenge for man and machine. Through Talladega Superspeedway, his vision was realized. And true to his vision, Talladega has become a place and a race like nothing in all the world.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Talladega this weekend for the GEICO 500, the second superspeedway race of the 2022 season. One week after they raced on dirt at Bristol, the cars and stars of the Cup Series now go from a half-mile of dirt to all 2.66 miles of the fastest and most imposing speedway there is.

Thanks to the great equalizer of the draft, almost any one of the 39 drivers in this weekend’s field can win at Talladega. Brad Keselowski and Bubba Wallace won the Cup Series’ pair of Talladega races last year, while Austin Cindric competes on a superspeedway for the first time since winning the Daytona 500 in February. All are joined by a whole host of others seeking to add their names to the list of drivers who have conquered Talladega.
