Impact of Raiders drafting RB Zamir White
After this pick, I think the Raiders will carry four running backs: Josh Jacobs, Kenyan Drake, Brandon Bolden and Zamir White. Looks like the New England running back by committee approach is coming to Las Vegas.
White needs some work as a receiver and blocker, so he could benefit from a lesser role this year. But with Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake set to hit free agency in 2023, he could be a starting option for the Raiders as soon as next year.

Browns select LSU kicker Cade York with No. 124 overall pick
The Browns, who have largely struggled to find a consistent placekicker since Phil Dawson retired following the 2018 season, selected LSU’s Cade York with the 124th overall pick.
York holds the record for longest FG in LSU history (57 yards) and connected on 54-66 FG attempts in his career (81.8%).

How CB Jalyn Armour-Davis fits with the Ravens
Jalyn Armour-Davis checks all the boxes for what you’d want in a mid-round cornerback, so there’s no surprise that he ended up in Baltimore. Armour-Davis has the size and top-end speed to play outside, so expect him to be on the field for Baltimore early and often, freeing Marlon Humphrey to play inside against the better slots in the NFL.
Armour-Davis plays with good feet at the line of scrimmage, physicality at the top of the route, and flashed some ball skills when healthy in 2021. For Mike McDonald, who wants to play press coverage on the outside and bracket receivers in the middle of the field, Armour-Davis is another bow in the quiver to accomplish that. Health permitting, he’ll be a dependable option for the Ravens defense.

Dane Brugler on No. 123 pick RB Isaiah Spiller to the Chargers
A three-year starter at Texas A&M, Spiller broke into the starting lineup as a freshman and has been reliable as the featured back in head coach Jimbo Fisher’s zone-based scheme. Leading the Aggies in rushing three consecutive years, he posted similar production each season with his yards per carry average going from 5.4 to 5.5 to 5.6.
Spiller is a good-sized back with the controlled feet, processing speed and tempo to pick through the defense, forcing missed tackles with his instincts and contact balance. He is an average athlete and his pass protection must continue to improve, but his ability as a pass catcher alone should keep him playing on Sundays for a long time. Overall, Spiller needs to be more consistent with his pad level and blocking, but he has outstanding footwork, patience and vision and ties it all together to maximize each carry. He has all the tools to develop into a three-down NFL starter.

Dane Brugler on No. 122 pick RB Zamir White to the Raiders
A two-year starter at Georgia, White was the lead back in offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s scheme. He led the Bulldogs in rushing the past two seasons and had a lion’s share of the carries, although he was mainly used on early downs and doesn’t have ideal passing down experience as a receiver and blocker.
Nicknamed Zeus, White runs behind his pads and barrels through contact with the body strength and balance to break tackles. Although he isn’t super slippery or creative, he has the vision, patience and agility to pick and slide through the muck at the line of scrimmage. Overall, White was part of a deep backfield at Georgia and is unproven on passing downs, but he has the ideal build, footwork and mentality to be a dynamic one-cut runner. He has NFL starting potential if the medicals aren’t a concern.

Dane Brugler on No. 121 pick S Jack Jones to the Patriots
A two-year starter at Arizona State, Jones was an outside cornerback in former defensive coordinator Antonio Pierce’s scheme. He looked to be on the fast track to the NFL Draft after a promising sophomore season at USC in 2017 before his career was derailed by academic issues, team violations and other off-field issues.
He resurfaced at Arizona State where he made some mistakes the past few seasons but also showed development (NFL scout: “I’m just not sure about his compass. He’s matured in areas but will still need some babysitting.”). Although his guessing will get him in trouble, Jones is a proven catch-point disruptor because of his sticky cover skills and ability to innately find the football (38 passes defended in his final 39 games in college). Everyone knows he is undersized except for him, but he will struggle to win body position against NFL size and accuracy. Overall, his lack of size and discipline (on and off the field) create doubt about his next level future, but his short-area agility, ball instincts and compete skills are NFL-worthy traits.

Dane Brugler on No. 120 pick LB Brandon Smith to the Panthers
A two-year starter at Penn State, Smith lined up at outside linebacker (strongside and weakside) in former defensive coordinator Brent Pry’s 4-3 base scheme. A former five-star recruit, he arrived as a raw player and showed steady improvement with each game, finishing the 2021 season second on the team in tackles.
Smith is physically impressive with his size and explosive movements, but the mental side and details of the position are still a work in progress for him. He must learn better anticipation to stay ahead of plays and develop his handwork to leverage gaps, stack-and-shed blockers, and get home as a blitzer. Overall, Smith is a long-framed, toolsy athlete with NFL starting potential, but the tape shows an uneven, unrefined player who must improve his processing and finishing skills before he earns a significant role at the next level. His best long-term position might be as an edge rusher.

Dane Brugler on No. 119 pick CB Jalyn Armour-Davis to the Ravens
A one-year starter at Alabama, Armour-Davis was the right cornerback in head coach Nick Saban’s scheme, playing both man and zone. After very little playing time his first three years on campus, he took over the starting job from Patrick Surtain II and earned All-SEC honors with a team-best three interceptions (zero touchdowns allowed), despite missing four games because of injury.
Armour-Davis does a nice job staying in phase in man coverage because of his reactive athleticism and cover awareness, also showing the grit needed for run support. However, when talking about him to NFL teams, his medicals are the first thing they bring up, which is something that could affect his draft grade. Overall, Armour-Davis is still developing in areas and must prove he can stay on the field, but he has the speed, length and overall feel in coverage to play on an island in the NFL. He has the traits of an eventual NFL starter if injuries aren’t a factor.

Impact of Broncos drafting DL Eyioma Uwazurike and CB Damarri Mathis
DL Eyioma Uwazurike
Broncos needed more depth on the interior after trading Shelby Harris to Seattle in the Russell Wilson deal. Uwazurike was a 3-year starter who had 9 sacks, 12 TFL in ’21
CB Damarri Mathis
Had him going at No. 96 in my final mock draft. He was also the No. 96 prospect on Dane Brugler’s big board. Depth at CB was a big need for the Broncos heading into the draft. Mathis can be overly physical at times but he plays with good toughness. Had two INTs in 2021, including one returned for a touchdown.

Dane Brugler on No. 118 pick CB Akayleb Evans to the Vikings
A one-year starter at Missouri, Evans was an outside cornerback in former defensive coordinator Steve Wilks’ man-zone scheme, seeing occasional snaps in the slot. After four years at Tulsa, he transferred to the Tigers for the 2021 season and showed zero decline in performance against SEC competition and his ball production only increased, including his first career interception.
A physical, long-armed athlete, Evans has plus speed and transition movement skills to press or play from depth. His eye discipline needs to be better to help mask his lack of short-area twitch and control when attempting to constrict passing windows. Overall, Evans doesn’t have the résumé or reaction quickness of a playmaking corner, but he has an enticing combination of size, length and speed to hold up in man or zone coverage. He projects as a rotational corner in the NFL with starting upside.

Dane Brugler on No. 117 pick DE Micheal Clemons to the Jets
A three-year starter at Texas A&M, Clemons lined up at defensive end in former defensive coordinator Mike Elko’s four-man front. He spent seven years at the college level (five in College Station, two at junior college) and battled several injuries. But he enjoyed a productive senior season (at 24 years old) with 11.0 tackles for loss in 10 games, including a 3.5-sack performance in the season finale vs. LSU.
With his frame, length, and athleticism, Clemons is straight out of central casting and at his best using his forward lean and strike power to create leverage points and open his rush opportunities. A late bloomer, he didn’t play defensive end until junior college, and he is still developing his hand use and discovering how to unlock all of his talent. Overall, Clemons has several red flags (age, injury history, off-field decision-making), but he owns NFL physical traits with the functional strength vs. the run and speed-to-power rush skills to handle edge responsibilities. He projects as a rotational NFL end who can play in either even or odd fronts (his flashes are reminiscent of Darrell Taylor at Tennessee).

Jets are addressing need after need in the NFL Draft
The Jets have methodically knocked off need after need with quality football players in this draft and their first pick of day three is no exception. Max Mitchell, a versatile offensive lineman from Louisiana-Lafayette, played three positions in college (three in one season during 2019) and could develop into a swing tackle with guard experience at the next level. Not an overwhelming athlete, but a good, experienced football player who good feet.
Sauce Gardner and Jermaine Johnson will push for starting jobs right away defensively. Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall and Jeremy Ruckert should do the same – and Mitchell could also be in that mix depending on how things shake out. Another good pick for New York.
