Niece Motorsports could expand beyond the NASCAR Truck Series
Carson Hocevar is in his fourth season with the NASCAR Truck Series, his second full-time season. In the previous two season, the drivers has collected six top-5 runs, with three of them in the 13 races so far in 2022.
Recently, Hocevar broke his leg in a crash at WWT Racing. He walked in crutches to the truck the next week and put it on the pole position at Sonoma Raceway.
Last week, he was leading at Knoxville Raceway but suffered an engine failure.
Now, Niece Motorsports is expressing interest in fielding a NASCAR Cup Series machine. The 19-year-old would likely be selected as their part-time driver…
Niece Motorsports has no interest in the Xfinity Series
“If I want to run that many weekends in a year, I’d want to Cup race,” Niece Motorsports GM Cody Efaw told Davey Segal about advancing from Trucks to Xfinity.
“That series, I feel is very watered down. I see a handful of teams being able to win. In trucks, there’s a stout list that can win every week.”
“It’s hard. I don’t mean to single someone out, but I watched someone at Sonoma that has Xfinity wins, no truck wins, he’s in the Cup Series… He ran trucks this weekend and I didn’t even know he was in the race.”
“It just says a lot about what the Xfinity Series is at the moment. I don’t see the value in it. No on the Xfinity side.
Carson Hocevar could land a ride in the Cup Series
“We’re talking about the Cup side,” he added.
“Those conversation are being had. It’s the best time to get in.”
“Maybe there’s going to be some more vehicles available, coming up. You know, inventory, there’s been shortages and stuff.”
“You’re going to be behind the 8 ball. Because there’s been a lot learned.”
“But, I would like to get Carson in some races next year, in Cup. I think he’s able to do it. I think we got some partners that are supportive of it.”
“It may not happen. But, i would do it,” he added.
