GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Marshall University tennis team (5-3) dropped its match to the Furman Paladins on Saturday, 6-1.
“It was a good competitive match,” Marshall tennis head coach John Mercer said after the loss. “Furman has a very good program. We did a nice job in doubles, but hopefully in the next match we can use that momentum to close out singles.”
The Thundering Herd dropped the first decision of doubles on court two. However, Madi Ballow and Jutte Van Hansewyck rallied on court three, 6-2, to defeat Julia Adams and Ellie Schoppe. Emma Vanderheyden and Liz Stefancic followed with a 6-3 triumph over Jess Dawson and Sara Snyder to take the doubles point.
