Women’s Golf Tied for Third After Opening Round of RiverTowne Invitational

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Elon University women’s golf team is tied for third with an 18-over par 306 following Day One of the RiverTowne Invitational. Charleston Southern is hosting the 16-team tournament at the par-72, 6,146-yard course at RiverTowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
 
The Phoenix is even in the team standings with High Point. Oral Roberts leads the field with a nine-over par 297 while Morehead State is one stroke ahead of Elon and HPU with a 305 (+17).

Round Two was suspended on Monday due to darkness.

HIGHLIGHTS
Apple Ngamwong tallied three birdies in the first 18 holes as she scored a two-over par 74. She is currently tied for second overall with a one-over 125. Adel Vadkerti opened the Invitational with five-over 77 and is tied for 15th at 126. Annabelle Ackroyd finds herself tied for 21st with a 132 (+7). She carded a three-over 75 for her first round and made birdie putts on holes 16 and 18. Svarin Yuenyong got started with a round of 80 and is tied for 50th with a 138 (+13), and Andrea Asmundsdottir is two strokes behind Yuenyong at 140 (+15) in a tie for 58th. She shot an 81 in her first trip around the links and turned in Elon’s other birdie in the round.

UP NEXT

Round Two will resume tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. and play will continue into the third round.
