NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Purple Eagles look to rebound from a 4-3 loss to St. Bonaventure Friday night when it takes on Buffalo Monday morning in Amherst, N.Y.
Last Time Out
• Elena Mayet defeated her Bonaventure opponent in three sets to improve to 4-8 on the season. It was also her first win in the second position this season.
• Mercedes Velasco dispatched her competition in straight-sets, picking up her third win in four matches. The first-year Purple Eagle is now 4-6 overall in dual match singles.
• In the sixth slot, Kirah Regales won over the Bonnies Velilla in straight sets to secure one of three points for NU. It was the graduate students first appearance this season in dual match singles competition.
Niagara Notes
• Erika Gonzalez holds the team’s best dual singles record with a 7-5 mark. She is 6-1 on court six.
• Jaida Borg is 3-2 in her last five singles matches and currently, 5-7 overall this season.
• Regales and Emma Shea have only played one singles match in dual play this season, both winning those matches.
• In doubles action, Shea and Velasco are 3-2 as a pairing, followed by Coral Rodriguez and Megan Gamble with a 2-1 record.
• Niagara won three-straight matches in the month of February, defeating Lafayette, William South College and Daemen College.
